Henry N. Wessel was an attorney practicing in Philadelphia in the early 1900s. In 1908, he represented Voltairine de Cleyre and Hyman Weinberg in an incitement trial following the Philadelphia riot of February 20, 1908, together with free-speech attorney Henry John Nelson. The defendants were easily acquitted, and de Cleyre wrote about the trial in her article "The Philadelphia Farce."<ref>Voltairine de Cleyre (1908), "The Philadelphia Farce," in Mother Earth III.5 (July 1908).</ref>
